You can show off what you are making to other Quilters. It's a time to meet new friends and spend time with old friends.

Retreats are hosted by Barbara Hanmer, she has been Quilting for 20 years. She has attended the Chicago National Quilt show for the last three years and has taken classes from Cindy Walters and Nancy Odom and many other well know Quilters.

Hanmer's Riverside Resort is a small resort with a big heart for Quilting.  Come have fun with us. We are on the west side of Michigan on US 31 on the Betsie River, south west of Traverse City and North of Manistee. We are about 4-1/2 Hours from Detroit, 3-1/2 Hours from Grand Rapids, 5-1/2 Hours from Chicago.

Cancellation Policy: Hanmer's Riverside Resort reserves the right to cancel workshops and/ or the whole retreat due to emergencies, incapacity of instructors, or lack of participation.

Hanmer's Resort works very hard to make the retreats memorable for all Quilters.  From the time you get to the resort, the fun starts and does not stop until you leave on Monday.  Chalets have one or two bedrooms, living area, dining area and full kitchen. Some rooms are connected, you just open the middle door so you can come and go to sew or socialize.  Each Quilter will have a sewing table.  Bring quilting buddies from home or let the resort pair you up.

There are chalet for double occupancy.  

Food is important at any quilting retreat. The cost of the retreat includes l breakfast and dinner each day and quilters are on theie own for lunch.

At the retreat quilt shops will set up mini stores with fabric, tools, new ideas and kit projects. Venders will be available until the wee hours in case you need something to finish your quilting project. There will be lectures and workshops scheduled. Take your pick or just sit and sew.

Vendors will demonstrate after a meal or at their mini store at the retreat.   We will have time for showing new items and visit each others chalet to see what you are working on, just a good time to meet new people. If you need to take a break from sewing you can go for a swim or sit in the spa at any time of the day or night.

On Monday morning we all meet for breakfast followed by show and tell. You will need a lot of film so you can get pictures of all your new Quilting friends.

If you have a group of Quilters that book the whole resort, each person will get a $20.00 discount on their room price.   We are a small resort, so we can accommodate 26 to 28 Quilters and 3 Venders.

We will book a different weekend if you have a guild that will book the whole resort.  We will also let a teacher from your area, come to teach a class.  If you know of a guild that has all new Quilters in it and they would like a retreat for beginners we can set it up.  We will make your retreat fit your group.
